2018 AND 2021 CHANGE THE VEHICLE UNDERNEATH

The 2018 facelift adds Touch Pro Duo, P400e and the 575PS SVR. For 2021, D300/D350 straight-six mild hybrids replace the V6/V8 diesels. Confirm VIN model year and fitted hardware.

V6 DIESELS

Both belts and the bottom end need separate evidence

Proving the front and rear belt jobs does not clear crankshaft risk. Oil intervals, hot mechanical condition, sequential turbos and DPF behaviour all need their own checks.

INGENIUM

The 2.0 diesel requires a cold timing assessment

Listen from a genuine cold start, inspect cam correlation and audit exact oil history. DPF regeneration, oil dilution, EGR and SCR faults must be diagnosed as a connected system.

P400e

A displayed EV range is not a battery-health test

Complete a charge, scan cell balance and isolation, test battery cooling and EV climate, then prove smooth engine/motor transitions under load.

V8 / SVR

Timing, hidden coolant leaks and performance abuse matter

Cold-start chain noise, cam correlation, crossover pipes, supercharger cooling, brakes, tyres, active exhaust and evidence of repeated hard launches all affect the decision.

4WD SYSTEM

Single-speed and twin-speed cars are not the same

Some road-biased variants have a single-speed Torsen system and no low range. Twin-speed cars must complete a real range change and centre/rear differential test.

AIR SUSPENSION

Measure it before unlocking after an overnight stand

Automatic levelling can hide a corner leak. Dynamic Response is a separate hydraulic system and needs its own pipe, valve-block and road-response assessment.

ELECTRONICS

Stable voltage comes before judging dozens of modules

Battery-support the full scan, inspect for roof-drain water and run the infotainment for a full journey. Facelift dual screens need repeated cold-boot testing.

STRUCTURE

Previous damage needs aluminium-capable assessment

Inspect bonded and riveted structure, castings, suspension mounts and subframes. P400e underfloor battery protection and isolation require an additional high-voltage check.
