THE L560 CHECKS THAT CHANGE THE BUYING DECISION

THE BADGE IS NOT ENOUGH

An early D300 is a 3.0 TDV6; a 2021-on D300 is a 3.0 Ingenium straight-six MHEV. The 2024 P400e also gains a larger battery and DC rapid charging. Use VIN/build information before selecting checks.

01
TDV6

Crankshaft, lubrication and belt evidence decide the risk

D275 and early D300 cars need exact oil history, timing-drive evidence, cold/hot listening and an informed engine assessment—not a generic diesel check.

02
INGENIUM DIESEL

Connect chain, oil dilution and emissions diagnosis

Read DPF loading/regeneration, EGR and SCR data while assessing chain noise and oil level. D240 also needs its sequential turbo system load-tested.

03
P400e

Charge it and run every propulsion mode

Check battery cells, isolation, charger, inverter and thermal circuits. Test AC charging on all cars and DC rapid charging on the enlarged-battery 2024-on version.

04
P550 SV

The one-year SV needs its own inspection

The supercharged V8, uprated transfer hardware, active rear differential, large brakes, forged wheels, bespoke air suspension and active exhaust cannot be priced as an ordinary Velar.

05
ELECTRONICS

Identify Touch Pro Duo versus Pivi Pro

Cold-boot every screen, camera and control, repeat after driving, scan all modules and verify update/account status. The 2024 single-screen layout is another distinct generation.

06
AIR SUSPENSION

Measure rather than watching it rise once

Record overnight corner heights, compressor time and pressure response. Adaptive dampers require separate leak, wiring, scan and road-response checks.

07
BODY

Test handles, water paths and aluminium repairs

Cycle every deployable handle repeatedly, lift carpet/boot trim for moisture and reject doubtful repairs to the rivet-bonded aluminium-intensive structure.

08
CHASSIS

Inner tyre wear exposes expensive problems

Inspect all shoulders, wheel runout, bushes, bearings, brakes and tyre circumference. Large wheels can hide cracks and poor geometry behind an impressive exterior.
